Set in Scotland. The place names are fictional, and it's mixed era - mid 1980's and late 90's. Drive a Class 156 'SuperSprinter', or an Intercity 125 HST, from the town of Sandymill by the sea, through the countryside to Ladykirk. On through the forests to Drumbracken. Then journey to the town of Balfearn with it's tricky 1 in 45 descent through the Townhead Tunnel where the journey ends in the terminus at Balfearn station.

Credits
Allan Dickie

Many thanks to Allan, for station announcements and certain background images used in the routes.

Anthony Bowden (Rail Sim Routes UK)

For aligning and testing the background image used on the Snow and Night runs and the excellent lighting idea and advice on the Alpha settings, and kind permission to use the idea in these routes. Plus permission to apply my own textures to the excellent MK2 and MK3 coaching stock objects seen in some of these routes, which were created by Anthony for his excellent 'Watford Junction to Milton Keynes' BVE route.

Bryan Dudley (Railtech)

Thanks to Bryan, whose idea it was to create a Sandymill to Balfearn night run. Also, for modifying the original bitmaps and supplying them for use on the route.

Paul Woozley (BVE Fan)

For the 'simulated rain' created for his excellent Kurrajong route, adapted by me to be used as 'falling snow' in the Sandymill 'Winter' run.

Stephen Cross (OzRail)

Full credit to Stephen, for the entire conversion from RW to CSV format and the idea of the changeover at Balfearn, plus the resignalling, theatre indicators and certain speed limit signs.

And anyone else involved ...

Sandymill to Balfearn "Original" with "Update"

"Original"

By Robert Glass

Drive the 156 on a local service calling at intermediate stations, Ladykirk and Drumbracken to Balfearn, where your train terminates.

Update

Contributed by Stephen Cross

Two diagrams to drive with this one. The first diagram utilises the 156 on a similar run to the first one (above) with the second diagram, you are in charge of the Class 43 HST timed 6 minutes after the local service, and you are on a non stop journey from Sandymill to Balfearn. Both runs feature a changeover at Balfearn, where the train no longer calls into the bay platform, but uses one of the through roads instead, ready for an extension to the run...

Important Information and Developer's Notes

These routes require the Class 156 Supersprinter and certain route files require Steve Green's excellent Class 43 HST, available from Steve's site: Train Sim Central

The route works well on a 266MHz with 16mB Video Card and 128mB Ram. So, any machines in the range will cope and as always, the faster the better.
